The 2016 Ghana Flood


The 2016 Accra floods resulted from heavy continuous rainfall in Accra, the largest city in Ghana. The rain started on 9th June 2016 and fell for six hours non-stop causing the flood in some places like circle, kaneshie and kasoa. The floods have resulted in heavy traffic on the roads in the city and also a halt in commercial activities as markets were flooded and workers trapped. Same thing happened in the country last year and the flood killed a whopping number of 152 people including the ATI student Adaku Abel who’s body was later found in 37 hospital in accra burnt without recognition after the fuel station explosion.
